Author - Pete Fromm
Selway-Bitterroot Frank Church Foundation hosts author Pete Fromm. Author of “Indian Creek Chronicles” and “The Names of the Stars”.
Pete’s most recent book, published May 2019, “a job you mostly won’t know how to do” is a definite departure from his books set in Wilderness. This evening’s conversation will focus on his “Wilderness” books. “Chronicles” documents his seven winter months alone in a tent in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness with the job of “babysitting salmon eggs”, then 25 years later he was asked to return to “babysit more fish eggs”. His stories are of wilderness and a trek through a life lived at its edges, showing how an impulsive kid was transformed into a father without losing his love for the wilds. Pete is a five-time winner of the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Literary Award. He is on the faculty of Oregon’s Pacific University’s Low-Residency MFA Program, and lives in Montana with his family.
