Description:
This project offers a rare and unique opportunity to experience the Main Salmon Wild and Scenic River by both water and land! Launching from Riggins, ID, we will jet boat upriver through the deep river canyon and the rugged Gospel-Hump Wilderness en route to our project location in the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness.
The Elkhorn Fire of 2023, fueled by high winds and abundant fuel, jumped the river and impacted the Nez Perce-Clearwater trail system. From Campbell’s Ferry, we will conduct heavy tread work to repair the main route of the main Salmon River Trail #096. The work will include digging tread and removing fallen trees from the trail, and may include moving rocks to construct and improve rock retaining walls.
There is an increased volunteer deposit rate for this project of $90. This is to ensure the commitment of registered volunteers and to assist with boat operator fees.
SBFC will provide all breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks.
