Description:

Located just off U.S. Highway 12, the South Fork Lolo Creek Trail #311 accesses the northern reaches of the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness from the Lolo National Forest. Wildfire impacts from the 2017 Lolo Fire obstruct this route with downed trees and vegetation overgrowth. This volunteer project will clear the trail to its junction with the Bass Creek Trail #4 on the Bitterroot, thus opening a continuous thru-route.

The work will include cutting logs and fallen trees out of the trail, heavy brushing, improving water drainage, and restabilizing the trail tread.

We understand that not everyone can do full 8-day projects. For this project only, there is limited availability for volunteers to hike in and join the project halfway through. Contact volunteer@selwaybitterroot.org for details.

This is a moderate-strenuous trip. There will be pack support provided by the US Forest Service to haul in tools, equipment, group gear, and food, however individuals will need to carry their own personal gear and items (see packing list).

SBFC will provide breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks.
