DESCRIPTION:

This year, SBFC is bringing National Public Lands Day back to the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests for a weekend project in the stunning Selway Crags!

Our focus will be on the Fog Mountain Trail #343, which runs alongside the Wild & Scenic Selway River and climbs to Fog Mountain. We'll be working primarily on improving drainage and controlling erosion, with a particular emphasis on building check steps to address steep sections of the trail. Most of the work will be within the first two miles of the #343 trail.

SBFC will arrive on Thursday, September 25, with a full workday scheduled for Friday. We’ll be camping at the trailhead, so you can join us over the weekend if you can’t make it Thursday night. Whether you’re interested in learning technical trail-building skills or simply want to spend a long fall weekend in the wilderness, this is the perfect event for you!

Please note that Fog Mountain Road can be steep and rutted, so trailers are not recommended.

SBFC will provide all meals—breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks—so you can focus on the work and enjoy your time outdoors.
